Abuja Estate Dispute: Houses for Africa Denounces Kojo Mensah, Reaffirms Legal Action Against FCTA

The management of Houses for Africa Nigeria Ltd has distanced itself from recent claims by Mr. Kojo Mensah regarding the company’s ongoing legal action against the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) over the demolition of structures at the upscale River Park Estate in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Friday, the company confirmed that it authorised the law firm of Anthony A. Malik (SAN) to file the suit  Paulo Homes Ltd & Anor vs. FCT Minister & Anor challenging the demolition, which was carried out on the orders of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The company dismissed as false a disclaimer purportedly issued by Mensah, who claimed he had not authorised the legal action. According to the firm, Mensah and two other Ghanaians  along with their lawyer, Abu Arome have no authority to speak for the company.

“These individuals attempted an illegal takeover of Houses for Africa in 2024 and are currently facing a 26-count criminal charge before the FCT High Court,” the statement read. “They remain unrepentant and have no standing to issue disclaimers on behalf of the company.”

Houses for Africa condemned what it described as “media antics” by persons it labelled as impostors, alleging that they are using the press to undermine the company’s legitimate legal efforts.

“It is disheartening that people facing serious criminal charges — including corporate forgery and impersonation are still attempting to mislead the public while evading arraignment,” the company said.

The firm warned the public against engaging in any business transactions with the embattled Ghanaians concerning River Park Estate, Houses for Africa, or Jonahcapital Nigeria Ltd, pending the resolution of the ongoing criminal case. It emphasised that the matter has been taken over by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and is scheduled to come up in court on November 11, 2025.

A director of Houses for Africa and founder of Jonahcapital Nigeria Ltd, Dr. Adeniran Ogunmuyiwa, also reaffirmed that he authorised Malik (SAN) and Oluwabunmi Adebiyi, Esq., to institute the suit against the FCTA over the alleged unlawful demolition.

The dispute stems from allegations by the Nigerian Police that Mensah, along with fellow Ghanaians Sam Jonah (KBE), Victor Quainoo, and their Nigerian lawyer, Abu Arome, forged company documents in an attempt to fraudulently increase the firm’s share capital by 99 million shares, which they allegedly allocated to themselves using falsified signatures and misrepresented their nationality to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The 26-count charge (marked CR/402/2025) was filed at the FCT High Court and endorsed by prosecuting counsel Isa Garba of the Police Legal Section. The police have presented multiple exhibits, including board resolutions, investigation reports, forensic analyses, and documents allegedly used by the accused to carry out the purported takeover.

While the case awaits full trial, Houses for Africa urged Nigerians and stakeholders in the real estate sector to disregard any statements or publications from Mensah and his associates.

“Despite overwhelming evidence, including forensic reports detailing their fraudulent activities, these individuals continue to spread misinformation to mislead the public,” the company added.
