KANO (North-West, Nigeria) — The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Kano State Chapter, has appointed a three-member interim leadership team to steer the affairs of the chapter alongside the remaining members of its executive committee.
The appointments were announced by Gen. Haliru Akilu (rtd) during a joint meeting of members of the ACF Board of Trustees and the state’s executive committee held on Saturday, according to a statement issued by Nasiru Yusuf-Ibrahim, the Publicity Secretary ll, on Sunday in Kano.
He said the appointment was sequel to the resignation of its chairman, Dr Goni Faruk-Umar.
Yusuf-Ibrahim said the new interim team comprises Alhaji Isyaku Umar-Tofa, Amb. Bala Mohammed-Sani and Hajiya Rabia Husaini-Adamu.
Akilu said the three eminent members would manage the chapter’s affairs for the remaining tenure of the current executive committee, pending the election of a new chairman.
He explained that the decision was guided by the need to restore understanding, promote reconciliation and strengthen cooperation among members following disagreements.

Akilu urged members to put aside their differences and work collectively in the interest of the forum, stressing that the meeting was intended to resolve outstanding issues rather than revive past controversies.
“The spirit that should guide every one of us is the same: consultation before decision, integrity before convenience and service before self,” he said.
He called on members to embrace patience, humility and constructive dialogue, adding that every contribution should help the chapter find lasting solutions to its challenges.
Akilu also acknowledged receipt of Umar’s resignation letter, in which the outgoing chairman cited the demands of his busy schedule.
He expressed appreciation for Umar’s service to the chapter, commending his time, energy and commitment to the forum.
In their separate remarks, the three newly appointed interim leaders expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to justify the trust through dedicated service.
They are expected to work with the remaining executive committee members to promote unity, restore confidence and ensure the effective administration of the chapter until a new chairman is elected.
