…Unveil Plans To Venture Into Other Businesses

KANO (North-West, Nigeria) — A Kano based oil magnate and Chief Executive Officer, Abunasty Nigeria Limited, Abubakar Nasir Tsanyawa has narrated how he quit banking to run Keke Napep transportation business and grew to become owner of multiple filling stations, fleets of trucks, real estate and import and export of commodities.

Tsanyawa while celebrating 10 years of existence of the company in Kano, went memory lane on how he sold his Keke Napeps to buy a Daf truck without a body and afterwards got support from a close ally who gave him a body and also secured loans of tyres for the vehicle.

The oil magnate however said the company plans to expand it businesses to other areas such as renewable energies, solar and other green energy in the next 10 years.

He said there is shift from fossil fuels to LPG to CNG hence the reason for the company to also explore available opportunities provided by the market.

According to him, “We started quite small. We started from humble beginnings. We started with a Keke Napep business. That was like 15 years ago or so. Then up to the time that we incorporated Abunasty Nigeria Limited and started as transporter. You know, down the road, we became an independent petroleum marketer where we have a couple of stations and also a fleets of trucks for transportation of petroleum products.

“As it is now, we are expanding into other industries or other businesses. As it was mentioned during the occasion, we are into real estate as well. We are also into import and export and other special vehicles, machines, like the business that will come as one up businesses.

“So the journey, we have nothing to say, but we have to be grateful to Allah who made it possible because many businesses have started before us and after us and with us and most of them have not attained the feat we attained now. So we thank God. Our vision is to be one of the major oil and gas companies, not only in Kano but in Nigeria. And by the grace of God, we never imagined that in 10 years we’d be where we are now. So there is nothing that God cannot make possible. So with God’s blessing, we project to see ourselves big in the next 10 years.

“By next decade, as well as in real estate business, you know, and also renewable energies, the solar and other green energy that is coming up and taking over the world. So we are looking at the industry and see where the shift is going, you know, because as you can see, this fossil oil is kind of going. So in the next 10 years, we don’t know how big it will remain, but we are planning to go with the market as well.

“You know, oil and gas like any other industry, it’s being regulated by government policies. Some are favourable to the marketers and some are not. So as you are aware right now, there are shift in the policies before oil is being imported by the oil majors, major oil marketers. Now we have Dangote refinery that is refining the product in Nigeria and selling to us and other consumers. As I said earlier, we see Abunasty Nigeria Limited becoming one of the major players in oil and gas industry in the next 10 years. Not only in oil and gas, even in real estate. There are many things that are coming up and I know by the grace of God, we’re going to make it just like we are trying to do in oil and gas,” Tsanyawa said.

The oil magnate however, used the event to reward staff who stood by him and his company through thick and thin with various categories of awards which included longest serving and excellence awards.
